Homecoming 2007

A new line of PHS Homecoming royalty was crowned on Friday January 5th. Four young men and women took the titles of Homecoming King, Queen, Prince and Princess.
Seniors Heather Bartek and Rasmus Larsen were dubbed PHS’ 2006-2007 Homecoming King and Queen. Crowned by last years’ king and queen Junior Garza and Ashton McBride, both Bartek and Larsen were very surprised, yet delighted, to receive the honor.
Bartek has been nominated for the homecoming court all four years she has been in high school, and as a sophomore was crowned Princess.
“When they called my name I was really shocked,” Bartek, the only girl to be crowned both Homecoming Queen and Princess at PHS, said. “I was just talking to Ras [Larsen] and then they called both our names. It was pretty cool.”
Larsen is a newcomer to both Homecoming and PHS. Being a foreign exchange student from Denmark, Larsen was rather shocked to be crowned Homecoming King.
“They don’t have anything like Homecoming in Denmark,” Larsen said. “I was talking to my friends that live there
[Denmark] and they were like ‘What is Homecoming?’ But it is really cool that I won because I never thought that I would.”
The 1st runners-up for King and Queen were sophomores Nathan McPherson and Tate Moore, and 2nd runners-up were seniors J.D. Beale and Kristina Garza. Other nominees included seniors Scott Lambert and William Stanton and juniors Ryan Lyles, Maranda Jeter, Megan Martin and Kori McConnell.
A PHS Homecoming Prince and Princess were also crowned Friday night. Those honors went to first time nominees freshman Wade Ford and sophomore Kalee Josselet.
When asked how they felt to receive the honor of Prince or Princess both replied, “Surprised!,” with little other words to describe the experience.
Isaiah Boxell and Cheyenne Tawater were 1st runners-up for Prince and Princess, and Landon Hendrix and Krissy Boxell were 2nd runners-up. Other nominees were sophomore Jesus Lujan and freshmen Kaleb Broadstreet, Taylor Stout, Lacohn Cox, Tyne Deussen and Sealy Vardell.
