PHS Choir Members
Bring Home the Gold

Sophomore Vocalists Sarah Bussell and Kacey Daniel (show above performing the national anthem at the Ponder Vs. Krum basketball game) both received gold medals for their performances at the Solo and Ensemble Contest.

Members of the Ponder Lions Choir and Band competed in the Celina Solo and Ensemble contest on Saturday, April 22nd. High School members finished with 2 gold medals and 7 second place awards. The 2 gold medals went to sophomore vocalists Sarah Bussell and Kacey Daniel.

"I think I did pretty good, and Kacey did real well, too," said first place finisher Sarah Bussell.

For the band, 2nd place finishers were freshman Carlee Garza (flute), sophomore Kati Barnes (percussion), freshman Cody Paul (percussion), freshman D. J. Read (Percussion), freshman Ashley Laughlin (baritone) and freshman Allison Lemon (flute). Band director Barry Walters said, "Great job to all band members."

Senior Players Honored at Last Home Game

Senior softball players Ashton McBride and Amanda Marez with their parents at last home game.

The senior baseball and softball players were honored at their last home game on Monday, April 24. Senior players D.J. Cockburn and Karl Specht were recognized before their baseball game. Seniors Ashton McBride, Amanda Marez, and their parents were recognized after their final district game against Argyle.

With their win against Argyle on Monday, the Ponder Lady Lions Softball Team officially became the District 13-2A winner and earned a bye for the first round of playoffs. They will play a warm-up game at Decatur at 6:30 on April 28 th. The Lady Lions first playoff game will take place next week.
