Ponder Hosts First HS Football Game
By Krissy Boxell
September 24, 2007

What could be more exciting than the beginning of Ponder’s first high school football season? The first PHS home football game, of course! This highly-anticipated rematch between the Ponder Lions and Sunnyvale Raiders will take place on Thursday, Sept. 27.

To show support for the Lions in their upcoming game, the HS Cheerleaders and fans are putting on a tailgate party at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25 in the HS student parking lot. Food and drinks will be provided for any fans participating in the tailgate party. The freshman football team will be introduced and the cheerleaders will perform for the tailgaters.

On the day of the big game, a pep rally will be held at 3 p.m. on the football field for all Ponder ISD campuses to show their spirit and boost the morale of the football team. At 5:30 that afternoon, the Lions will take the field to face off against the Raiders once more. After the previous Sunnyvale victory, the Lions’ claws are out, ready to take revenge on their home field.

“We hope to bring in a big crowd for the first home football game of the season,” junior cheerleader Nikki Johnson said. “It should be fun to rally behind our boys and help them beat Sunnyvale.”
