By Keeley Woods September 8, 2008 To close the door on the Lions’ 2008 baseball season, the 13-AA All-District awards were announced this summer. Six of the Lions took home honors. Lane Loiselle, Jeffery Specht, and Landon Hendrix made 2nd team All-District, while Dylan Barber, Parker Brooks, Zach Hendrix and Logan Loiselle were placed on the honorable mention team. The 2009 Lion team immediately moved into summer league play. To stay sharp in the summertime, as they do every year, the Lions took part in the local Top of Texas league. The league consisted of talented teams from the surrounding area. The Lions ended up fourth in the league. “We played pretty well as a team during the summer,” Daniel Barber said. “I really enjoyed my teammates, and we got closer as a team.” This fall, the Lions will also be taking the field in the Top of Texas league. The games will be every Saturday at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., in preparation for the big season ahead. “Even with two seniors graduated, the season looks promising,” Cameron Chapman said. “I am really looking forward to playing with my team this year.” |
